September 2013 —> I completed my month of PICU (pediatric intensive care unit). It’s a big deal for me because I fear emergencies and critical care. It actually went well!
I got amazing feedback from some of the fellows that I respect tons. I was told I was the best resident they had rotate through —> which is crazy! I’m so dumb and confused all the time that it makes me doubt myself over and over and over.
The fellow told me that I have “the gene” that pushes me to want to learn, that pushes me to be curious — and that these traits will make me an excellent doctor. I was beyond thrilled and am eager to keep trying my best at every single rotation.
I had a birthday. It was great! Friends, food, and space! What more could you want? This is a picture from the Adler Planetarium where we celebrated my old age.
I lost more weight. I have only a handful of pounds left to lose and to be honest I don’t much care if I lose these last few. I look in the mirror and see the face that I know again. Feels good. I felt like a stranger before, which made me feel like a fake mega superficial phony —> but 40 pounds makes you look like a different person and when you’ve lived 30 years with a certain face, a new face is hard to get used to.
I AM GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!! I KEEP DAYDREAMING ABOUT IT AND NO MATTER HOW LONG THE DAY IS OR HOW SLEEP DEPRIVED I AM —-> IT’S ALL OKAY BECAUSE I AM GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!!!
I’m dripping excitement from my face and body! I seriously have my fists clenched with happy energy when I think about it!!! I can’t wait!!!! I’m also going to Mickey’s Halloween Party —> villains! rides at night! costumes! halloween parade! fireworks! and exploring Disneyland at night! There aren’t enough exclamation marks out there to communicate the excitement in my body!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am in the ER now. I like the pace. It’s fast and 50 things are all happening at once which keeps my ADHD brain pretty happy!!!
Hope everyone is okay!
It’s almost holiday season —> which means family and dog time! I’m ready.
